Before you go: preparing your trip to Oran
A successful trip begins before boarding. Here are the essentials to take care of before setting foot at Oran's Ahmed Ben Bella Airport.
When to go?
The high season runs from June to September, with temperatures between 28 °C and 35 °C. For families who want to avoid crowds, the months of May and October offer mild weather (22-26 °C) and less crowded beaches. Oran's winter (December-February) remains pleasant, around 12-16 °C, perfect for cultural visits without the summer heat.
Documents and formalities
Algerian nationals from the diaspora travel with their Algerian passport. For visitors from the Gulf or other nationalities, check visa requirements with the Algerian consulate in your country. A national or international driver's license is required if you plan to rent a vehicle in Oran.
Book in advance
In summer, accommodations and vehicles fill up quickly. We advise you to book your accommodation and rental car at least 2 to 3 weeks before your arrival, especially if you are traveling in July-August or during Eid.
Day 1 — Central Oran: history, culture, and seafront
Dedicate this first day to the historic heart of Oran. The goal: to understand the soul of the city before heading to the beaches.
Morning: the old city and Santa Cruz Fort
Start with the Sidi El Houari district, the oldest in Oran. Stroll through its stepped alleys, admire the Ottoman and Spanish architecture, and climb up to the Santa Cruz chapel for a panoramic view of the entire bay of Oran. The ascent can be done by car or on foot (allow 20 minutes walk from the bottom of the district).
On the way down, pass by the Bey's Palace (Dar El Bey), a jewel of Ottoman architecture. Admission is free and the visit takes about 30 minutes.
Lunch: Place du 1er Novembre and Mdina Jdida
Head to Place du 1er Novembre (formerly Place d'Armes), the nerve center of Oran. This is where you'll find the Abdelkader Alloula Theater and the City Hall. For lunch, head to the Mdina Jdida (Derb) district, a few minutes' walk away. This popular neighborhood is full of small restaurants serving authentic and 100% halal Oran dishes: garantita, karantika, rechta, hrira…
Afternoon: the seafront and Les Genêts
After the meal, walk along the seafront boulevard (Boulevard Stalingrad) which connects the city center to the Létang promenade. Children will love running on the landscaped esplanade. Continue to the Genêts district for an ice cream facing the sea.
If your children still have energy, make a detour to the Méridien amusement park in Canastel. The little ones will find rides and games there, while parents enjoy a mint tea with a view of the city.
Evening: Bir El Djir and the maritime fringe
For dinner, head to Bir El Djir or the maritime fringe, where several family restaurants offer grills, pizzas and Algerian dishes in a modern setting. It is also in this area that several of our furnished accommodations in Oran are located, if you wish to walk back after the meal.
Day 2 — Oran Coast: beaches, relaxation, and water activities
The second day is dedicated to the Oran coast, a string of beaches and seaside resorts extending west of Oran. A vehicle is highly recommended to fully enjoy this day.
Morning: Aïn El Turck and its family beaches
Take the coastal road towards Aïn El Turck, about 30 minutes from the center of Oran. This historic seaside resort offers several beaches suitable for families: fine sand, shallow waters, and local shops to buy snacks.
The most recommended beaches for families in the Aïn El Turck area: Trouville (supervised in summer), Bouisseville and Cap Falcon. Arrive before 10 am to set up your umbrella peacefully.
Lunch: fresh fish by the sea
Aïn El Turck and its surroundings have many beachfront fish restaurants. Ask for the catch of the day or grilled fish over charcoal — a classic of the Oran coast. Prices are generally displayed by weight (between 1,500 DA and 3,000 DA per kilogram depending on the species and season).
Afternoon: Les Andalouses or Bousfer Plage
After lunch, head to Les Andalouses or Bousfer Plage, two spots popular with Oran families. Les Andalouses has a tourist complex with beach access, while Bousfer offers a wilder setting and accessible coves.
If you are staying in a villa with a private pool in Bousfer, you can also return in the early afternoon and enjoy the private pool while the children nap — a luxury that families particularly appreciate.
Evening: sunset on the coast
The Oran coast offers some of the most beautiful sunsets in the Mediterranean. Settle down at Cap Blanc or Madragh to watch the spectacle. Bring a shawl for the evening wind and snacks for the children.
Day 3 — Nature and adventure: quad biking, horseback riding, or diving
For this last day, we move on to action. Oran is not just about its beaches: the city and its surroundings offer outdoor activities accessible to the whole family.
Option A: horseback riding in Les Andalouses
The horseback riding in Les Andalouses offers several options: beach circuit, mountain circuit (up to 300 m altitude) or the combined sea + mountain for the more adventurous. Children from 6 years old can participate accompanied. Prices start from 4,000 DA for a beach ride and go up to 15,000 DA for a 5-hour bivouac in the forest.
Option B: quad biking in the M'sila forest
The quad biking in the M'sila forest is a strong experience for families with children from 6 years old (as passengers). Four slots are offered each day, including a particularly popular sunset option. Expect to pay from 6,000 DA per person.
Option C: first dive at Plane Island
For families with children aged 8 and over, the first dive at Plane Island is an unforgettable experience. The outing includes boat transport, supervision by certified instructors, and underwater photos/videos are included. The price starts from 2,000 DA — one of the most affordable activities on the Oran coast.
Option D: blue safari at sea
For those who prefer to stay on the surface, the blue safari is a 3-hour sea trip that runs along the coast from Bousfer to Paloma Island, Fourmis Island, Cap Blanc and the coves of Madragh. The paella option on board adds a convivial touch. Budget: 40,000 DA for the group.
Free afternoon: shopping or rest
If your flight is in the evening, take advantage of the afternoon to do some souvenir shopping in Mdina Jdida (spices, dates, ceramics) or to rest in your accommodation before transferring to the airport. Don't forget that Keyin-DZ offers an airport transfer service to reach Ahmed Ben Bella without stress.
Where to stay in Oran for 3 days with family?
The choice of accommodation determines the success of your stay. Here are our recommendations based on your traveler profile.
In the city center: Belgaïd, Canastel or Bir El Djir

For a stay by the water, villas with private pools in Bousfer or accommodations on the maritime fringe are perfect. These residences are not overlooked, respect family privacy, and are equipped with everything you need: air conditioning, equipped kitchen, parking.
The Keyin-DZ advantage
With Keyin-DZ, you book accommodation, vehicle and activities all at once. No need to juggle between Airbnb for the apartment, one site for the car and another for excursions. Everything is managed from a single point of contact, with a representative available on WhatsApp at +213 672 25 43 59 before, during and after your stay.
Getting around Oran: renting a vehicle
Getting around Oran by public transport with children can quickly become complicated. Car rental is the most practical solution to enjoy your 3-day itinerary without constraint.
What type of vehicle to choose?
For a family of 4, an automatic car like the Geely Livan X3 offers a good compromise between comfort and maneuverability. If you are more numerous, a van or a 7-9 seater minibus is available. Families with babies can request a car seat when booking.
Delivery and pick-up
The vehicle can be delivered directly to Ahmed Ben Bella airport, your hotel or your accommodation. Mileage is included and basic insurance too. For stays of 3 days or more, rates are decreasing.
If you prefer not to drive, Keyin-DZ also offers a vehicle with driver service — practical for excursion days on the coast.
Estimated budget for 3 days in Oran
Here is a realistic estimate for a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children) for a 3-day stay:
| Item | Estimate |
|---|---|
| Accommodation (3 nights, furnished apartment) | €150 – €350 |
| Vehicle rental (3 days) | €60 – €120 |
| Food (3 days) | €50 – €100 |
| Activity (diving, quad or horse riding) | €15 – €60 |
| Airport transfer | €15 – €30 |
| Estimated total (3 days, 4 people) | €290 – €660 |
These estimates include a high level of comfort. A more economical stay is entirely possible by choosing a studio or an F3 in the city center rather than a villa with a pool.
